The Chalalan Ecological Refuge is located in the Madidi National Park, where it protects an area from the Andes to the Amazonian Basin, having an unsurpassable level of biodiversity. You can find the refuge in area of La Paz, in in northwest Bolivia, comprising some 1,800.000 hectares (4,447,878 acres). Madidi is home to more than 1,000 species of neotropical birds, in addition to housing 44% of all neotropical mammals, and 38% of amphibious neotropical mammals. The area is a large center of endemic plants. The Chalalan Ecological Refuge is located in the Madidi National Park. Chalalan has helped create the concept of providing ecotourists a comfortable place to experience the humid, tropical forests. The Refuge is found on the shores of the Chalalan Lake, where you will start before 5 hours of navigating to the Beni and Tuichi Rivers, from the location of Rurrenabaque, Beni.

Day 1. Ruranebaque
Transportation from the airport to the hotel in Rurrenabaque. Accommodations.

Day 2. Ruranebaque-Chalan
Travel in boat to Chalalan. Walking from the Tuichi River to the refuge. Lunch and a break in the Refuge. Presentation of the Madidi National Park. Hike on the footpaths of Chichilo and Mirador.

Day 3. Chalan-Madidi Park
Breakfast. Hiking the footpaths of Silbador, Mutua, and Anta (discussing topics such as fruit plants, medicinal and exotic). Lunch. Free time to swim in the lake for fun, play games, or revise bibliographic articles relating to the National Park. Later, hike the foottrails of wichi and jaguar, in order to observe the birds. Dinner and traditional night of stories and history of San Jose de Uchupiamonas. Accommodations.

Day 4. Chalan-Madidi Park
Breakfast. Hiking the trails of Wabucuru and Marimoto, well-known ecological trails, observing wildlife and unknown ruins. Visit the Estabón River. Lunch in the midst of the ruins. Later, return to Chalalan to take part in crafts activities. Dinner and games dealing with biodiversity and the memory of Chalalan. Accommodations.

Day 5. Chalan-Ruranebaque
Breakfast. Hiking to Puerto Tuichi. Travel in boat from Chalalan until Rurrenabaque. Arriving in Rurrenabaque. End of the services.

Cancellation Policy

Once the reservation has been confirmed by Gotolatin, the following charges will apply for cancellations made by the passenger, according to the program departure date:

  • Between 45 and 30 working days before the beginning of the program
    Charge of 30% of total program value per passenger.
  • Between 30 and 15 working days before the beginning of the program
    60% of total program value per passenger.
  • Between 15 and 0 working days before the beginning of the program
    No refund.
  • There are no refunds for portions of the program not used, hotel accommodations, etc.
  • We recommend considering Travel Insurance for any reason.
