Visas

In order to enter Bolivia it is necessary to have a valid passport or a visa granted to you for 30 or 90 days according to the agreement with the country of origin.

The countries that DO NOT require visas are:
Germany, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Great Britain, Finland, Ecuador, Spain, El Salvador, United States, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Perú, Portugal, Poland, the Vatican, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, and countries of the Caribbean.

Countries that require visas without previous consultation:
Albania, Andorra, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Bah rein, Belarus, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldavia, Nauru, Nicaragua, Papa New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Russia, San Marino, Surinam, Tuvalu, Ukraine, Vanuatu, Bangladesh, Granada, Guatemala, Pakistan, Panama, Tunisia, Algeria, Dominica, Korea, Slovakia, Honduras, Jordan, Liechtenstein, Oman, Barbados, Egypt, Guyana, Haiti, Belize, Cuba, El Salvador, Malta, Venezuela, Romania, Hungary, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Kuwait.

Requirements

• Passport with remaining validity of at least 6 months.
• Return ticket from Bolivia.
• Bank deposit for the price of the Consulate Fee (if requested).
  

In these cases, the visa will be granted for a period of 30 days (deferrable).

The countries that require a visa and a previous consultation by the Chancellery are:

Requirements

• Request visa at least 25 days before your trip.
• Photocopy of passport with remaining validity of at least six months.
• Photocopy of identification document granted by Immigration if you are a resident of Chile.
• Personal interview with the department of the Consulate.
• Statement of bank deposit for the price of the Consulate Fee (if requested)
• Return ticket from Bolivia.
• Personal references/contacts in Bolivia (if possible).

Under the agreement of reciprocity, the tourist visa should be stamped by consulates of the following countries: Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Korea, China, France, Jordan and Thailand.

Specific Purpose Visa

All foreigners that enter Bolivia for business reasons, negotiations, to sign contracts, documents, marriage contracts, or taking part in activities other than tourism, should obtain a Specific Objective Visa.

Requirements

• Letter from the business that you represent or personal letter addressed to the Consulate of Bolivia indicating the motive for your travels and the length of stay required.
• Passport with remaining validity for at least 6 months.
• A bank deposit for US $ 85.
  

Students visas

In agreement with the Memorandum of understanding written by the Republic of Bolivia and the Republic of Chile on November 24, 1994, the country will grant a Student Visa (Temporary Resident Visa for students), valid for one year (renewable at the end of that period), to Chilean citizens that study in public and private learning centers, recognized by the Bolivian government.

Requirements

• Valid passport and legal identification.
• Certificate of good conduct, duly legalized, issued by an official police authority from your country of origin or in some cases from the country where you last resided.
• Medical certification issued by a professional authority from the Bolivian Consulate, certifying that the applicant is not sick with infectious or contagious diseases, including an Elisa exam to test for H.I.V.
• Proof of studies, duly legalized, that certifies that the applicant is authorized to continue his/her studies.
• If the applicant is younger than the legal age in Bolivia (21), legal authorization by the parents or legal guardians must be countersigned for permission to travel and remain in Bolivia.
• A certificate of the parent's economic solvency must be submitted if the applicant is underage, and a personal economic solvency certificate, if the person is of legal age under Bolivian law, proving their ability to pay their expenses during their stay in the country. If the applicant has received financial aid in the form of a scholarship to study at a Bolivian university or other similar institution, the student visa permits the student to stay for 60 days after which they will be able to renew it for up to one year with the approval of the specific administrative department within their institution (renewable annually).
